On July 29, 2025, the third United Nations Sustainable Procurement Promotion Conference was held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. The event aimed to strengthen ties between the UN system and Chinese enterprises and to advance the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Dai Feng, Vice Mayor of Jiaxing Municipal People’s Government, Mr. Chen Jianzhong, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee and China Chamber of International Commerce Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce, and Ms. Sophie Muller, UNHCR Representative in China. Nearly 200 participants attended the event, including delegates from UN agencies, procurement experts, and business leaders. Procurement officers from UNHCR, UNOPS, and UNICEF provided detailed briefings on UN procurement plans, procedures, and product requirements. They also offered tailored advice on how Zhejiang enterprises can better engage with the UN procurement system. China Chamber of International Commerce Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce and International Public Procurement & Sustainable Development Service Center (Shanghai) signed a cooperation agreement to guarantee a regular collaboration in the future. The two parties will precisely address the capability shortcomings, information barriers and service gaps that enterprises face when participating in international procurement, enabling more Zhejiang enterprises to closely connect with the core circle of international public procurement. |
